No experience is necessary. All roles are open. This is a non-paid performing and volunteer opportunity.
Anyone ages 6 & up are welcome to audition.

Auditions, most rehearsals, and performances will be held at
Richey Suncoast Theatre 6237 Grand Blvd., New Port Richey, FL 34652
Free street parking is available. (Do not park in the small parking lot directly behind the building, it's a tow away zone.)

PREPARATION - PERFORMERS:
Auditions will consist of cold readings from the script and a 16 bar (or 1 minute) selection from a song in a similar style from another show. You may sing either a cappella or with a backing track on your device.
Monologues are not required but are welcome.
Special Considerations:
Charlie and the Chocolate Factory is a physically driven, storytelling-focused production. All performers auditioning for this show should be in strong physical condition. Most roles require a range of larger-than-life dancing and expressive physical acting. Some performers may be asked to climb, work on elevated structures, or wear large or restrictive costumes that limit visibility and movement. RST is seeking kind, hardworking, team-oriented actors and singers who are physically agile and can fully commit to portraying these iconic characters with energy, color, and enthusiasm. A strong sense of comedic timing grounded in truth and humanity is essential. Please see below for additional details about specific roles and ensemble expectations.
**The casting team is seeking a performer close in age to Charlie Bucket (can play approx. 9–13 years old, young-looking older teens will be considered). The four other children - Augustus Gloop, Mike Teavee, Violet Beauregarde, and Veruca Salt - are traditionally written to be portrayed by adult (and older teen) performers. While younger performers may still be considered for these roles, it is strongly recommended that all interested actors review U.S. Broadway productions and recordings of the musical to ensure they can fully realize these characters. Adult performers are welcome and encouraged to audition for these roles as well.
Rehearsals: There will be up to 25 rehearsals for this production, plus tech week and performances. The exact rehearsal schedule is to be determined (based on cast availability)
Tech Week: Sunday, September 6 - Thursday, September 10, Call Time 3 PM Sunday and 5:30 pm every other day of tech week.
**Tech week rehearsals are 100% mandatory and can run later into the evening. Be aware that we must run the entire show each night and sometimes that will mean rehearsals can last longer. Anyone with an active role during performances, including actors, crew, and production team must be available and present for all tech week rehearsals.
