Auditions for Darcy Parker Bruce’s Always Plenty of Light at the Starlight All Night Diner will be held on Sunday, June 16th and Monday, June 17th at 7pm. Auditions will take place at Hole in the Wall Theater, located at 116 Main Street, New Britain, CT. If callbacks are required, they will be held at Hole in the Wall Theater on Thursday, June 20th at 7pm.
The show will run Friday, August 16th, 23rd, 30th, Saturday, August 17th, 24th, 31st, and Sunday, August 25th.
Monologues are encouraged but not required. Auditions will consist of reading sides from the script.
If you have a headshot and resume that you would like to provide, feel free to bring it in. Headshots and resumes are not required for auditioning!
PLEASE NOTE:
All potential cast members will be required of the following:
Access to a reliable mode of transportation.
Attendance to one (1) General Meeting at HITW (usually the second Wednesday of the month).
Attendance to one (1) performance of the current production at HITW (The Time of Your Life).
Attendance to the strike of the set of both The Time of Your Life (6/30/2024) and Always Plenty of Light at the Starlight All Night Diner (9/1/2024)
Synopsis
A SUPER queer time travel adventure. With dinosaurs. A cross between Jurassic Park, Back to the Future, and Fried Green Tomatoes. In this charming love story, the stakes are more than life and death; they’re life or extinction.
Characters
SAM – (Late 30s, F) Overnight janitor at the Starlight. Very observant, a hard butch presenting queer on the outside but a real softie on the inside. Totally and hopelessly in love with Jessa (see below.) Lives in her truck. Sometimes couch-surfs or catches a break with a generous lady. Loves the Starlight second only to Jessa, but that’s debatable. Prone to motion sickness induced by sudden Time Travel™.
JESSA – (Early to Mid 30s, F) Late-shift waitress at the Starlight. Very pregnant. Subsists on coconut cream pie, due to baby-sickness and the fact that she can’t keep anything else down. Very confused about her dopey husband, Johnny.
DR. FRANKLIN MOXIE PhD – (Older than time, M) Doctor! Time travel enthusiast! Eccentric weirdo! Adorable savant! Coffee guzzler and frequent patron of the starlight, Dr. Moxie is a SCIENTIST who knows way more than you do about SCIENCE. Also, time, space, continuums, etc. Absolutely dashing in a white lab coat. A glutton for pie.
DANNI – (Early 20s, F) Dr. Moxie’s graduate assistant (read: slave) baseball fan and TOTAL dino buff, Danni knows more about the Cretaceous and the Diamondbacks than most folks in Arizona. Loves to read. Collects baseball cards and is also just the right amount of concerned about that comet- you know the one- that’s supposed to pass by Earth tonight? That big streak of white light in the night sky?
