The Alpha Players of Florissant will be holding non-Equity auditions for their upcoming production of Charles Dickens’ A CHRISTMAS CAROL with Music and Dance-adapted and directed by Nancy Crouse.
AUDITIONS DATE: Saturday, August 15, 2026, beginning at 5:30 by arranged appointment
LOCATION: Theatre at the Florissant Performing Arts Center, #1 James J Eagan Dr, Florissant, MO 63033.
PERFORMANCE DATES: December 4 at 7:30 pm and December 5 at 2 pm at the Florissant Performing Arts Center. Additional performances may be scheduled on December 4 at noon and on the evening of December 5. (These additions are tentative and based on cast availability and audience interest indicated by ticket sales.)
TO OBTAIN AN APPOINTMENT: To make an audition appointment, please fill out the audition form (located in "Discussion" on this event) and email it to: [email protected].
Please be sure to include the following information: (1) your name, (2) if under 18, your age or if over 18, the age range you can reasonably play, (3) your phone/text number, (4) your email, and (5) the classic role(s) that interest you and (6) your time preference of 5:30, 6:30 or 7:30. We will confirm your appointment time. (Please allow 48 hours for a response.)
Please note that callbacks will be at 8:30pm. Walkups will only be accommodated if time allows. Families are encouraged to audition in the same time slot if possible. If cast, you will be expected to become a member of The Alpha Players and to help with set build and strike.
AUDITION INFO/FORMAT: We are looking for a diverse, multi-generational cast of versatile actors who are also singers since all cast members sing and most will double in two or more roles including being a caroler. Those who dance or play a musical instrument well will potentially be featured doing that as well.
Auditions will consist of (1) your solo of one verse sung a cappella from the carols listed below, (2) your reading of a brief scene or monologue sent to you based on your stated role preference, (3) your learning a dance combination, and (4) your singing/harmonizing with those in your audition group.
Solo Carol Choices are as follows.
For Carolers, Fezziwigs, Fred, his wife and Party Guests: “Here We Come a-Caroling,” “Hark the Herald Angels Sing,” or “We Wish You a Merry Christmas”
For Bob Cratchit, his wife and children: “I Saw Three Ships a Sailing”
For Tiny Tim: “Silent Night”
For Scrooge, Christmas Past and Present, Belle & Young Scrooge: “Angels We Have Heard on High”
UNABLE TO ATTEND AUDITIONS: If you cannot attend auditions but are interested and available for rehearsals and performances, you can email a video of your singing/dancing/acting along with your audition form, but it must be received by us no later than August 15.
REHEARSALS: There will be one read-sing through soon after show is cast in August. A few blocking rehearsals of key scenes/carols may occur in September if possible, but regularly scheduled rehearsals won’t begin until October 11. Rehearsals based on actor availability will be two weeknights yet to be determined and Sunday afternoon and/or early Sunday evening. Early rehearsals will be scheduled to make best use of actors’valuable time. To make this work, your accurate listing of ALL conflict dates/times from August 16th through December 5 on your audition form is important!
LIST OF ROLES: A list of roles appears in the "Discussion" section of this event.
