The Lifespan of a Fact is a story about the definition of truth and the ethics surrounding who decides what that definition is. It is a reflection on whether the emotional truth of a story is more or less important than the specific details and if one aspect can or should be sacrificed to support the others.
The players:
JIM - (Presents male; aged 20s; open ethnicity) Youthful, at the beginning of his career, Jim is idealistic but inexperienced and determined to prove himself. Truth is objective.
EMILY - (Presents female; aged late 30s or older; open ethnicity) Practical but not jaded, Emily is in charge and is experienced and comfortable in that role. Truth is negotiable.
JOHN - (presents male; aged 40s or older; open ethnicity) Used to automatic respect, John expects deference; he is not just experienced, he is acclaimed. Truth is subjective.
The play as a whole takes no sides, and the audience takes the role of jury.
Actors should bring a list of all potential conflict from audition dates until show dates, resume and headshot if available.
