Performers ages 16+ are welcome to audition.
HappyPlace Productions announces auditions for Cats May 25 and May 26 from 6pm – 9pm (you are only required to attend one night of auditions). Invited call backs are May 27 from 6pm-9pm. Auditions and rehearsals will take place at Elevate Church.

Audition Information: Prepare 16-32 bars (1-2 minutes) of a musical theater song that best demonstrates your singing ability. Bring your sheet music as an accompanist will be provided. There will be a short dance taught at auditions; no prepared dance is required. Wear comfortable clothes and shoes to dance in.
Come prepared to have your headshot taken the night you audition. This will be used as in the program and for all promotional posts. There is a cast fee of $65 for those cast in the show.

Summary:
CATS is set amongst a larger-than-life junkyard playground and is alive with purr-fect felines including Rum Tum Tugger, Mr. Mistoffelees, Macavity, Jennyanydots, Old Deuteronomy, Skimbleshanks and Grizabella.
The Jellicle Cats come out to play on one special night of the year – the night of the Jellicle Ball. One by one, they tell their stories for the amusement of Old Deuteronomy, their wise and benevolent leader, who must choose one of the Cats to ascend to The Heaviside Layer and be reborn into a whole new Jellicle life.
Cast of Characters:
Grizabella - Known as the Glamour Cat; former beauty of the Jellicle tribe
Gus - The Theatre Cat; elderly cat who brings nostalgia and sentimentality to the show
Bustopher Jones - An upper-class cat; sophisticated, humorous and respected by other cats
Bombalurina - Confident and flirtatious red queen, best friend with Demeter.
Demeter - Skittish and troubled queen
Jellylorum - Caring queen who looks after the kittens and Gus.
Jennyanydots - The Old Gumbie Cat; seemingly lazy by day but active at night
Macavity - The mysterious and villainous cat; the "Napoleon of Crime”
Mr. Mistoffelees - A magical and energetic cat
Ensemble: various chorus cats who contribute to the ensemble and the Jellicle Ball.
