Join ATX Fusion at Balance Dance Studios (Studio 8 in the Bravo building) on the 1st and 3rd Sunday of each month!**July 7th: Body Rolls with Dylan Fox + DJs Amy and Julia**
This week, Dylan Fox will be teaching a class on body rolls at 8pm, then DJs Amy Morrow & Julia Long will supply the music from 9-11!
CLASS TOPIC: Body Rolls
CLASS DESCRIPTION: From ondulaçãos in Brazilian zouk to waves in kizomba and bachata, body rolls are used in so many dance styles. They can be initiated by a leader and done in partnership, or as a shine/solo movement by a leader or follower. In this class, Dylan will lead us in the basics of body rolls, body roll variations, and how to travel with this movement.
ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR: Dylan is a born and raised Austinite with multiple dance styles under his belt. He began his partner dance journey in the ballroom world before progressing to WCS, then Brazilian Zouk. Along the way, he (quite accidentally) discovered Fusion dancing. He's been a regular attendee of ATX Fusion since the early days, then a steady volunteer, and now, an organizer.
As a teacher, he strives to create an environment where students can understand the technical basis for movements but also explore how those movements feel in their own bodies.
SCHEDULE:
8pm: Body rolls class with Dylan Fox
9-10pm: DJ Amy Morrow
10-11pm: DJ Julia Long
PRICING: $10 before 8:30pm, $15 from 8:30pm onward. Both card and cash are accepted at the door.
NOTE: There will be a Zouk festival in the same building during our event, occupying the other two large studios. We are not yet sure how crowded the lobby area will be, so we ask that you bear with us! We also encourage you, if it's an option, to carpool to ensure you can park as close to the building as possible.
LOCATION:
We are now hosting our events at Balance Dance Studios! We are in Studio 8, which is located in Balance Dance Studios' Bravo building, just across the parking lot from their main building. The building we'll be in says "Bravo" on it. If the building says "Balance" on it and has a front desk, you're in the wrong place. If you're driving and using Google Maps, you can put in "Bravo Dance Theater, 4000 West Gate Blvd," but this won't work if you're taking a rideshare.
PLEASE NOTE:
Venue does not permit alcohol. Please feel free to BYO other beverages, especially water, dancing is a physical activity after all!
Only soft-soled dance shoes, socks, or bare feet are allowed on the studio floor. Please do not wear street shoes, heels, or hard-heeled shoes on the studio floor, as they will damage it. Help us keep this beautiful venue in great shape!
If you're feeling under the weather or ill, please don't attend! Take care of yourself, and avoid bringing a contagion to a crowded space and dance partners you care about.

WHAT IS FUSION DANCING?
Fusion is an improvisational partner dance where there's a lead and a follow that isn't confined to or defined by one style. Fusion dancers tend to be familiar with the basics of more than one partner dance (Blues, Tango, West Coast Swing, Brazilian Zouk, Lindy Hop, etc.)
