About Our Guest Speaker

James Brocksmith is an accomplished Captain and Safety Professional with over three decades of experience across a wide range of aircraft, including the 747, 777, 737, MD-80, and DC-9. Currently a Pilot at Atlas Air, he serves as a Lead Captain on aircraft such as the 747-400F, 400P, -8F, and the LCF Dreamlifter. Previously, James worked at Boeing as a Captain and Safety Pilot, contributing to accident investigations, flight operations safety programs, and global aviation symposiums. His career includes key roles at Qatar Airways, Midwest Airlines, and American Eagle Airlines, as well as serving as an Executive Pilot for the State of North Carolina and a Rescue Swimmer in the US Navy.

The Academy trains for 6 certifications and ratings, professional development, immersive Atlas experience, as well as Certified Flight Instructor and high-performance aircraft time building.

Throughout the journey, cadets will get to know Atlas Air's dynamic and global culture, both in-person and through an exclusive online community. The Atlas Cadet Academy is in West Chicago at DuPage Airport (KDPA). Part 141 training is provided by Illinois Aviation Academy.

Located in West Chicago, IL, at DuPage Airport (KDPA), the Illinois Aviation Academy (IAA) is a part of Spartan Education Group, LLC, and has been training pilots for three decades. Today, IAA's training facility spans 30,000 square feet and houses a fleet of over twenty-five aircraft, including the Cessna 172s and Piper Aztecs. IAA provides FAA-approved Part 141 flight training and is a proud partner of Atlas Air Worldwide. Spartan Education Group also owns Spartan College of Aeronautics and Technology and is proud to have trained pilots and technicians for over 95 years.
