About this Event
Astronomy on Tap is is a free public lecture series where astronomers give short, laid-back talks over drinks at local bars. No background in science required — our scientists share cool stuff about space while the audience sits back and relaxes, with plenty of time to indulge their curiosity and ask whatever questions they want.
This month, we're hosting:
Julia De Marines (UC Berkeley) - Messaging Extraterrestrials: Who Speaks for Earth?
and
Franck Marchis (SETI) - Stargazing and Beyond: A Global Network of Citizen Astronomers
De Marines is an astrobiologist at the UC Berkeley SETI Research Center, an affiliate research scientist at the Blue Marble Space Institute of Science, and a National Geographic Explorer & Educator. Marchis is the Director of Citizen Science at the SETI Institute, CEO and co-founder of SkyMapper, and the co-founder of Unistellar.
Astronomy on Tap takes place in cities all over the world. This is a revival of the San Francisco chapter, which regularly hosted events before the pandemic. We're excited to be back on a monthly basis!
The event is free, but there is a 1 drink minimum.
PSA: Food will be available at Astronomy on Tap from now on! Come eat tacos
(vegetarian options available)
