For thousands of years, astrology, medicine, and herbalism were not separate disciplines, but different expressions of the same philosophy of healing. Ancient physicians and herbalists believed that the heavens, the earth, and the human body existed in a living relationship, each reflecting universal patterns of order and correspondence. Plants were understood not merely for their physical properties, but as symbolic expressions of planetary and elemental forces that could support balance, vitality, and well-being. Today, much of this rich tradition has been forgotten. Yet the underlying philosophy continues to offer profound insight into the relationship between astrology, nature, and holistic wellness.
Astro-herbalism is about understanding the symbolic language through which astrology, nature, and healing have spoken to one another for centuries. We'll explore the history and philosophy of astro-herbalism from its ancient roots through the Renaissance and into the holistic teachings of Edgar Cayce (how some intersect or diverge from traditions of astrological medicine).
