Astoria Column Centennial
LOST MONUMENTS OF THE PACIFIC NORTHWEST
Wednesday, July 22, 2026
7:00 PM | FREE
Join us as we celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Astoria Column. Marking a century since its dedication on July 22, 1926, this special community event will feature cake, a short film, and a keynote presentation by public historian Zachary Stocks.
In his talk, Lost Monuments of the Northwest, Stocks explores a forgotten chapter of regional history. One hundred years ago, the Great Northern Railway promoted its route as the most historic in North America, sponsoring special excursions and erecting monuments to commemorate the Northwest’s past. Today, most of these monuments have been neglected or forgotten—with the Astoria Column standing as a remarkable exception. Discover the stories behind these lost landmarks and why this ambitious history project faded from public memory.
Doors open at 6:00 pm. Be sure to visit our Lower Lobby Concession for drinks and snacks to enjoy during the show.
