About this Event

Workshop Location: SCRAP, 141 Industrial St #1, San Francisco

Workshop Description

Have you seen the fantastical assemblages around SCRAP? Now you can learn from the master who created them! Join us for this Franksenstein-inspired assemblage workshop where SCRAP fave, Jake Ceniceros, will show you all his tips and tricks to utilizing the strangest, most haunted bits and bobs from the Depot. Subvert the expectations of conventional art and sculpture. This workshop will challenge artists to create inspiring work from the weirder and less utilized of reusable materials. You will gather your favorite found objects—whether they be rusted metal, discarded fabric, vintage trinkets, or nature's curiosities. Participants will be encouraged to approach creativity from an unconventional perspective and you’ll leave wanting to make much more. Nothing is sacred. Everything is permitted.

Sliding scale tickets are availabe for every SCRAP Workshop:

  • General Admission #1: Covers the cost of workshop and materials
  • General Admission #2: Covers cost of workshop, materials, and supports the instructor
  • General Admission #3: Covers cost of workshop, materials, supports the instructor, and helps keep our workshops more accessible

About the Artist

Jake Lindsay is a sketch-comedian trapped in an artist's body. His passion is cursed and subversive assemblage art and sculpture.

In his early years he was a member of M.A.P. (Merry Art Pranksters) where the goal was to assemble art from dumpster-diving and then install it around San Diego under cover of darkness.

With almost 20 years of work at SCRAP-SF, he is a Jack-of-all-trades & master-of-fun.

About SCRAP

SCRAP is a non-profit organization working at the intersection of arts, education and the environment. We breathe new life into old arts & crafts supplies and reduce waste by diverting over 250 tons of materials heading to landfill every year.
