Speakers: Logan Thames (Engineering Manager), Brian Bigelow (VP, Operations)

Logan Thames is an Engineering Manager at EthosEnergy with extensive experience supporting gas turbine lifecycle solutions, repairs, upgrades, and asset optimization. He works closely with customers and internal teams to develop practical engineering solutions that improve reliability, performance, and long-term asset value. Logan is also an active ASME member and supports industry collaboration and knowledge sharing across the power generation sector.

Brian Bigelow is an accomplished energy industry leader with over 15 years of expertise in gas turbine technology and aftermarket solutions. As Vice President of Gas Turbines Operations at EthosEnergy, he spearheads global strategy and partners with customers to optimize performance and reliability. Brian’s deep knowledge spans the FA fleet, advanced fabrication, and parts provisioning, enabling him to deliver innovative, cost-effective solutions that drive customer success.

Technical discussion:

Presentation will cover two topics – Digital Twin Model and Phoenix Rotor Solution.

Digital Twin Model integrates design information, material properties, operating history, start-stop cycles, load profiles, thermal transients, inspection records, and repair history into a continuously updated analytical model of the rotor. The model evaluates critical life-limiting mechanisms, including creep, low-cycle fatigue, and thermal stress, providing a detailed assessment of rotor condition and remaining life.

Using advanced engineering algorithms and finite element analysis (FEA), Digital Twin predicts damage accumulation, identifies high-risk areas, and quantifies the impact of operational changes on component life. This enables proactive maintenance planning, outage optimization, life-extension strategies, and risk-based decision making, helping operators improve reliability, reduce lifecycle costs, and maximize asset availability.

Phoenix Rotor Solution is a comprehensive rotor life-management program that combines advanced engineering assessment, inspection data, operational history, and repair expertise to maximize the reliability and economic life of gas turbine rotors. It is a cost-effective solution leveraging a mix of new and used components for rotors suitable for 144k Factored Fired Hours (FFH) for F class and 200kFFH for B/E class
