Join us for a relaxed ASL campout weekend near Carderock, Maryland. We will be hosting climbing at Carderock the next morning! You can camp, climb, or do both.Everyone is welcome: Deaf, hearing, beginner, expert, climber, non-climber, and everyone in between. Bring yourself, bring friends, and come hang out outdoors.
Camping: We will camp at Marsden Tract Campground, Site #006, near Carderock Recreation Area and the C&O Canal towpath.
Climbing: The climbing day will happen nearby at Carderock. Climbing does not require registration. Just show up. A separate climbing flyer will include climbing details, what to bring, safety information, and directions.
Cost: Both camping and climbing are free.
Rain: We will announce any weather-related changes in advance. There is no rain location or rain date for the climbing event.
What to Bring for Camping: Bring your own tent, sleeping bag, sleeping pad, weather-appropriate clothing, food, water, and any personal camping gear you need.
A headlamp, camp chair, trash bag, and extra layers are also helpful.
Getting to Carderock from Camp: From Marsden Tract Campground, walk south on the towpath for about 1/4 mile. Carderock will be nearby.
Accessibility: Marsden Tract and Carderock are outdoor recreation areas with uneven ground. Carderock is not wheelchair accessible.
About ASL Climbing Days: ASL Climbing Days are usually held on the first Sunday of each month at major indoor climbing gyms around the DC Metro area. Each June and October, we climb outdoors.
Carderock Recreation Area is part of C&O Canal National Historical Park. It is on Piscataway and/or Manahoac Indigenous land.
