Ash Wednesday marks the beginning of Lent, a 40 day period of prayer, fasting, and self-denial modeled after Jesus' 40 days in the wilderness. Lent culminates with the events of Holy Week (Maundy Thursday, Good Friday, and Easter Sunday). Ash Wednesday is themed around repentance and mortality.We will have an Ash Wednesday worship service at 5:30 PM. There will be an opportunity to receive the imposition of ashes on your forehead or wrist as a sign of mortality and need for Christ for eternal life. Afterward (~6:30 PM), we will have a meal available to all who would like a meal and fellowship. Cost is $3 per person, or $10 for families of 4+. Free for people attending Wednesday night for the first time. The dinner menu is pizza, salad bar, and ice cream.
A staffed nursery will be available for children 4 and under during the service. Children older than 4 are encouraged to sit with their families.
We want to invite everyone who is medically able to fast on the 5th in order to better connect with Jesus, and to break the fast with the meal after the worship service in the evening.
