· Ashes used to make sign of the cross on the forehead of believer are from the charred remains of the palm branches used on Palm Sunday the year previous.
· Connection of Palm Sunday and Ash Wednesday is appropriate since Jesus’ triumphant entry into Jerusalem led him quickly to his death.
