This spectacular beginner scramble is about 3.5 miles and 800' elevation gain. It will involve a lot of fun climbing and clambering over, around and under lots of boulders and rock faces. Some sections are steep. We'll go up to the high point, take a leisurely snack break then return down the canyon a different way.
There is nothing too difficult and there are easy alternate ways around the more challenging spots. We'll seldom get more than a few feet above ground level. Slow pace, short breaks as needed. You should be comfortable hiking 3+ strenuous miles to attend.

We park and meet at the east end of Kraft Mt parking lot, right inside the entrance. That way, when we leave and the lot is crowded, it's easy to get out. Plan to arrive a few minutes early so we're all ready to begin at 8am.
You'll need a backpack so that your hands are free. You'll need at least a liter of water, in metal or plastic containers, no glass. A water hydration pack is the most convenient. Bring a light snack that provides quick energy.
You'll need sunscreen, hat, sunglasses and shoes with good grip or 'sticky' on sandstone. Approach shoes are best, hiking shoes are okay. Sneakers are not recommended, they're usually too pliable.
