Ascot Hills Park Plant Walk and Nursery Tour

Explore the park’s diverse native habitats while learning about more than two decades of community driven restoration efforts that have helped protect and restore this unique landscape.
The tour includes a visit to the Ascot Hills Park Native Plant Nursery, the 10,000 sq. ft. Micro-forest, currently the largest micro-forest in California, and the Interpretive Nature Displays, which are surrounded by a newly installed pollinator garden. Along the way, you’ll discover the importance of California native plants, local wildlife habitat, and the ongoing work of dedicated volunteers and community partners.
We’ll begin at the paved parking lot across from the public restrooms with a brief introduction to the park’s history and restoration efforts. From there, we’ll visit the Interpretive Nature Displays and the newly installed pollinator garden before heading north along the riparian trail.
We’ll loop back south, continue to the park’s west end to visit the Microforest, then enjoy an overlook of the Ascot Hills Park Native Plant Nursery before making our way down for a guided nursery tour. The tour will conclude at the nursery.

Meeting Location: Meet at the paved parking lot across from the public restrooms (see map below).
Parking: Free parking is available in the gravel parking lot near the nursery and in the paved parking area farther north within the park.
What to Bring: The day can get hot. Please bring water, a hat, sunscreen, and insect repellent. Long sleeve shirts and hiking boots or sturdy walking shoes are recommended.
Difficulty: The riparian trail is mostly flat and easy to walk. The route also includes a moderate uphill hike on dirt and paved pathways to the Microforest and nursery.
Restrooms: Public restrooms are available near the paved parking lot.
