đź“Ť Where: Tenthaus, Maridalsveien 3, Oslo
⏰ Duration: 31st January – 16th February, Friday to Sunday from 14:00 to 18:00. Or by appointment.
As the Crow Flies is an interdisciplinary installation by Joanna Chia-yu Lin that blends painting, textiles, sound, and photography. Drawing inspiration from the phrase "As the Crow Flies," which symbolizes the direct distance between two points.
Joanna’s third solo exhibition in Norway reflects on the shifting meaning of place and the notion of home. It captures the complex emotions of moving and migration—longing, guilt, and the ache of being caught between two worlds.
At its core are over 200 soft photographic sculptures, crafted using a self-developed mixed-media technique that combines photography, painting, textiles, and industrial materials. A soundscape of spoken words and ambient sounds, paired with textile backdrops, weaves through the installation, extending the narrative and inviting viewers to explore the connections between the various mediums.
The artist will be present throughout the exhibition—feel free to stop by for a chat!
The exhibition is supported by Regionale prosjektmidler for visuell kunst (KiN), Kulturrådet and Norsk Fotografisk Fond (FFF) utstillingsstøtte.
(NO)
