Come and explore the biggest art museum in Estonia!
On the last Sunday of every month, we offer a special drop-in guided tour in English that introduces one of our exhibitions.

The Life and Death of Mr. N: Bourgeois Spaces by Urmas Lüüs
How do spaces, objects and desires change as a way of life rooted in centuries of toil in the fields is replaced by the elegance of parquet floors and chandelier-lit salons? What qualities must one possess and what must one suppress in order to be a member of the bourgeoisie? The spaces created by Urmas Lüüs offer an interpretation of the first half of the 20th century in Estonian society. Where and how did the middle class live and how did it define itself? An array of objects and artworks from museum collections is also on display.

Art Walk. The Future is in One Hour: Estonian Art in the 1990s
The exhibition departs from the rupture caused in the Estonian society by the end of the Cold War and the regaining of independence. In Estonia, the 1990s were a transition era. The country had been freed from the Soviet Union (1991) and began to rebuild a liberal democratic society based on a market economy. The focus of the exhibition is on new media (photography, videography and installation art) which caused a major shift in the art scene of the day.
