Many of you know that one of the goals of Tonality Brewing is to support local artists and musicians. That is why I am so happy to announce a partnership with the Mundelein Arts Commission in support of the Kracklauer Fund for the Arts.
A bit of a long story here, so if you're a TLDR kind of person, the punchline is that we're doing a fundraiser May 17-19 to help fund public art in Mundelein!
The land our building is on was donated to the Village of Mundelein to construct the first fire station in town by Violet and Aloysius Kracklauer (probably now best known as the namesakes of Kracklauer Park) on the condition that it remain public property.
It served as a fire station until 2000 when Public Works moved in. After the Village of Mundelein moved Public Works to the current location on Allanson Rd, the Village approached Violet and Aloysius's children to ask if the building could be sold to a private developer. They agreed as long as a Public Art Foundation was established in the family's name - and so the Kracklauer Fund for the Arts was born.
This partnership is such a no-brainer for us! It's supporting local artists and our business would literally not have existed without it!
So what's the deal with the fundraiser? Glad you asked!
The weekend of May 17-19, we will have a couple of ways to give. First, we will have art hanging on the walls donated by local artists up for raffle with 100% of the proceeds supporting the Kracklauer Fund for the Arts. Additionally, any monetary donation to the Fund will be matched with 20% of the amount coming back to you on a Tonality gift card (up to a $25 gift card).
On the evening of May 17, in celebration of the opening of this fundraiser and pop-up art show, we will have "Mini Sets" from local musicians - 30-45 minute sets in a couple locations around our building.
