About this Event
Join AAA Bay Area for the first in a three-part panel series, Artists Under Imperialism, next Saturday, February 28! How do grants and funding work as censorship under imperialism? This moderated discussion will bring Bay Area artists in different artistic mediums together to discuss how the structures & institutions of imperialism censor and limit us.
The Artists Under Imperialism series will interrogate the limits of making art under imperialist and capitalist structures which normalize censorship, unsustainable financing, and lack of support for working artists. We'll also discuss how artists are building alternatives and looking to socialist frameworks to make art and what that looks like in the Bay Area and beyond. We hope to see you there!
