Artists Call Out: Audrey Gibbs Art Prize

Entries are now open for the Audrey Gibbs Art Prize!
Audrey Gibb’s joined the Royal Queensland Art Society in 1983 and was recognised as a Fellow of the society in 2009. This exhibition explores genre artworks, one of Audrey’s great pleasures. Sponsored by the Gibbs family, it will also feature a retrospective of some of her works.
Genre Artworks are those that depict ordinary people in everyday situations, both in the exterior and the interior. Rather than heroic or mythological subjects, these works celebrate the familiar: everyday people participating in domestic routines, work, leisure, social gatherings, and quiet moments of daily life. Spanning centuries, the show highlights how artists have found beauty, humour, and meaning in the ordinary, offering intimate windows into human experience and social history.
Artists are invited to submit artworks in their own choice of media including both 2D and 3D works.
Entries due: Wednesday, 26th of August, 3:30pm
Entry fees:
- $30 for RQAS Brisbane Members
- $50 for non-members
On show at Petrie Terrace Gallery from Friday, 2nd of October to Sunday, 25th of October.
