Our Artistica March Break Camp is for kids ages 6-12 who like adventures in art!Is your child ready for a week full of creative fun and artistic adventures? This camp is perfect for kids who love to explore, create, and express themselves through art!
Camp Details:
Activities run from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm
Ages: 6-12
Drop-off: 8:00 am -9:00 am
Pick up: 4:00-5:00 pm (Gallery closes at 5:00)
Campers need lunch, water, outdoor clothing, and two nut-free snacks.
Dress for mess and fun!

Weeks Themes & Activities:
Monday – All about Painting!
Take a stroll around the gallery to get inspired by the many beautiful portraits from our permanent collection and from Icons: Portraits of Women. Create a self-portrait of future you, using acrylic paints! What will you be doing? Are you wearing anything silly? Do you have any pets? In the afternoon, we’ll visit the Eleven Painters Start a War exhibition and get inspired by the many abstract artworks, learn about the use of shape and color to create the perfect big and fun painting, using a variety of materials!
Tuesday – Storytelling Through Art
Learn basic clay techniques to create small creature sculptures, get inspired by the many stories and characters from our permanent collection and create your own story! Decorate them using recycled objects and paint. In the afternoon, turn your creatures into a handmade comic-book zine using your own drawings, storytelling, and recycled paper.
Wednesday – Design 101
Look at our New Brunswick Modern Graphic Design exhibition, get inspired, and practice your sketching and design skills to create your own logo, in preparation for Friday’s Art Market! Explore color choice, symbols, and mood board to develop your ideas. After experimenting, bring your design to life on t-shirts, banners, and signs.
Thursday – Collaborative Mural
Take a walk downtown to see some amazing murals made by local artists and explore Jordan Bennet’s in-gallery mural. Throughout the day, work as a team to create a unique and large mural to be displayed in the Education Centre using paint, collage, and mixed media.
Friday – Art Market!
Spend the morning crafting artworks to share, such as jewelry, textiles, small sculptures, and other handmade crafts! Campers will learn to prepare their crafts and their market booths. In the afternoon, campers will trade artwork with one another, ending the week with a celebration of creativity and collaboration!
