About this Event

The Kosciuszko Foundation invites you to an evening with Marianna Stuhr, acclaimed Polish visual artist and the Foundation’s former grant recipient, in conversation with Luiza Swierzawska, joined by Lilly We, curator of the exhibition.

Taking place one day after the opening of Stuhr’s solo exhibition at the Kosciuszko Foundation, the conversation will offer a closer look at the artist’s creative journey and evolving practice—from printmaking to painting, and from Poland to an increasingly international artistic life.

Stuhr, Wei, and Swierzawska, who recently joined the Tow Center for Digital Journalism at Columbia University as a Reporting and Research Fellow, will discuss the experiences and ideas that have shaped her work, the place of contemporary Polish art in an international context, and what it means to build an artistic identity across cultures. Their conversation will also explore art as a language of memory and personal experience; the relationship between tradition and contemporary expression; the challenges of sustaining a creative practice through different stages of life; and the role that cultural exchange, grants, and international networks can play in an artist’s development.

An intimate conversation about art, identity, memory, belonging, and the evolving presence of Polish artists in the world.
