The Subtle Body of Living Things is a visual response to the life experience of always being close enough to encounter peace, but never truly being able to experience it. After Mara was diagnosed with a recurrent fainting issue with zero solution or direction, her life was immediately reduced to a series of cautious and unsettling episodes. Time, something she had always considered as constant, had taken an edge of impermanence.The Subtle Body of Living Things is Mara’s most interdisciplinary work to date, utilizing time as the medium, which was then threaded through multiple lens based methods and experimental processes. During her artist talk, she will be discussing the history of her work as an artist, the influences that have brought her to this work, and more. There will be an opportunity for questions and discussion at the end of the talk, followed by the final opportunity to view The Subtle Body of Living Things at the Edwardsburg Branch!
