Jennifer York will be at Gately Gallery, inviting the community to step deeper into her world of layered narratives and meticulous craftsmanship. She will present an overview of her artistic process and visual storytelling. The FMU Gately Gallery proudly presents “Thunder and Wonder”, a solo exhibition by Charleston-based artist Jennifer York.
York is known for her intricate papercuts, dioramas in vintage suitcases, and large-scale installations cut from Tyvek house wrap. Her work blends careful observation with symbolic storytelling, drawing inspiration from Charleston’s iron gates, tidal marshes, and historic landscapes. Through imagery of female figures navigating monumental surroundings, York reflects on themes of resilience, recovery, and renewal.
Her practice transforms found objects and paper into immersive visual narratives—inviting audiences to step into layered realms of darkness and light, struggle and wonder.
