A talk with the wonderful curator of "Morsels: Tiny Bites of Delectable Art"! Carolyn Tillie is a culinary historian, artist, curator, and consultant. Combining gastronomic and artistic passions, she specializes in creating and exhibiting food-themed jewelry and artwork, lecturing on various culinary historic themes, and consulting with art galleries and museums to organize and present gastronomically interactive events. With an MFA in jewelry and metalsmithing from CSULB, she obtained a Certified Master Chef certificate from Epicurean school in Los Angeles, and a Level Two certification from the Wine Spirit Education Trust.
As co-founder of the Bay Area Culinary Historians and former catering manager for the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion, Carolyn has staged events and dinners such as a ten-course dinner from the Salvador Dalì cookbook, Les Diners de Gala, Roman-era banquets from the fourth century Apicius cookbook, De re cocquinaria, and Victorian-era feasts, complete with authentic service ware. Through the Oxford Food Symposium, she has both presented papers as well as led hands-on, introspective food-themed art workshops.
