About this Event
Join us for an artist talk with Tamara Kostianovsky exploring , a new site-specific installation of free-standing textile sculptures that merge human forms with landscape to create a surreal, dystopian jungle.
Through densely layered textile forms that evoke flesh, roots, flowers, and bone, Kostianovsky constructs an immersive environment where the boundaries between body and ecosystem begin to dissolve. Inspired by the underground communication networks of trees and informed by contemporary ecological thought, Phantom Limbs imagines the body as both an extension of the earth and a conduit between terrestrial and celestial worlds.
In conversation with ArtYard audiences, Kostianovsky will discuss her distinctive sculptural practice, which transforms discarded textiles into visceral works that reveal hidden interior worlds. Born in Argentina and based in New York, Kostianovsky has exhibited internationally at institutions including the Brooklyn Museum, the Museo de Arte Moderno de Buenos Aires, and El Museo del Barrio.
This event immediately follows an artist talk with David Bailin that begins at 11 AM.
