About this Event
Learn more about Eric Ranveau's practice, work and sources of inspiration in this much anticipated artist talk.
I look for the common thread between figurative and abstract art. Where does the first end and where does the second begin? Over time it has been stated; "You are abstract!" or "You are figurative!" In fact, I am drawn towards both styles and inherently the combination has evolved into a unique expression of how and what I see in the world around me, through colour, shapes and refraction.
As an artist, I strongly believe we as a society have a social responsibility as the guardians of this planet. Today’s escalating environmental issues deepens a sense of obligation and urgency to respect, capture and share the overwhelming beauty of this planet. Artists are the eyes of the world, allowing all to see.
Born in 1966 in Chateauneuf-sur-Charente near the wine district of Cognac, France, Eric Ranveau was raised in Barbezieux-Saint-Hilaire and studied fine art at the National Art School of Paris. Over time, his unique style attracted the public eye and gave him the opportunity to establish a following with collections represented in France, Canada, Germany and Sweden. In 2006, he followed his wife to Canada and with a fresh perspective from his new country, continued his art career in Hamilton.
In this highly anticipated talk, Eric speaks to his creative process and the pleasure of painting.
