Join Samoan pākehā visual artist and printmaker Josh Bashford on Saturday 21 November at 11am for an engaging kōrero about his creative journey and his work in our current exhibition 'Bird Land: Te Kāhui Manu'.
Bashford will talk about his artistic journey, from growing up in Wairewa to developing his artistic practice and exhibiting his work. He will share how his whakapapa, community and lived experiences have shaped his work, the influences that have guided his practice, and the opportunities and challenges that have helped him get to where he is today. He will also discuss where his practice is heading and what continues to inspire him as an artist.
Josh Bashford will also be running a woodcut printing workshop on Saturday 21 November at 1pm for a hands-on introduction to his practice. Listen and learn with the artist as he explains his woodcutting techniques and shows you how to create your own woodcut piece.
