Join us at Studio Kroner for an Artist Talk with Erika NJ Allen, whose exhibition Beneath All Distance is currently on view as part of the 2026 FotoFocus Biennial: The Long View.
Allen will take us behind the work, discussing her use of pinhole and analog film photography, ceramic surfaces, and the landscapes that inspired this exhibition.
In Beneath All Distance, Allen turns her attention to landscapes formed and transformed across immense spans of geological time. Her deliberately slow photographic processes invite us to consider a different sense of scale—one measured not in days or years, but across millennia.
How does photographing these ancient landscapes change the way we understand time? What happens when the fleeting nature of photography meets the physical permanence of ceramics? And what can these landscapes tell us about memory, endurance, and our own place within something much larger?
