Artist Shezad Dawood and Writer Daisy Hildyard In Conversation

This event is part of the Scarborough Lights programme 2024.

Developed through dialogue with scientists, conservationists and local community groups, Ambiguous Machines conceives a coastal future affected by climate change, including rising sea temperatures and levels.

Come and hear Dawood and Hildyard share the inspirations behind the artwork, an Augmented Reality trail and accompanying story which weaves together science, storytelling, myth and local knowledge to explore an imagined future where human and marine species have evolved to become fused or hybrid. Following the event there will also be the opportunity to visit the three sites along Scarborough’s seafront with Dawood and Hildyard to experience the AR pieces in the twilight.

Local communities, leading artists, businesses, and scientists are working together to create a series of events, artworks, and experiences that connect people with the natural world and support positive action for nature.

Wild Eye aims to foster a greater understanding of the incredible wildlife found across the North Yorkshire Coast, raising awareness of issues around nature, biodiversity and climate change.
