Join Murals of La Jolla and Quint Gallery for a special conversation exploring abstraction, public art, and the expanded field of painting.
Artists Heather Gwen Martin, Kim MacConnel, and Monique van Genderen will discuss their work and practices in a conversation moderated by contemporary art historian and curator Jordan Karney Chaim, PhD.
Refreshments will be served at 11:00 AM, followed by the panel discussion at 11:30 AM.

Murals of La Jolla was conceived in 2010 to commission public art projects throughout La Jolla and to bring contemporary art into the community. An Art Advisory Committee, comprised of the heads of La Jolla's major visual arts organizations, invites an international roster of artists to create new artworks, all located on private property and privately funded.
The program demonstrates that commissioning artists to create works for public spaces brings energy and vitality to a community. Over the past fifteen years, large-scale artworks have appeared in a variety of locations throughout the village of La Jolla, some prominently displayed while others are tucked away in more discreet locations. To date, new works by Amy Adler, Terry Allen, Eleanor Antin, John Baldessari, Math Bass, Mel Bochner, Mark Bradford, Kelsey Brookes, Sandra Cinto, Claudia Comte, Rosson Crow, Einar and Jamex de La Torre, Roman de Salvo, June Edmonds, Marcos Ramirez ERRE, Kota Ezawa, Gajin Fujita, Anya Gallaccio, Chitra Ganesh, Robert Ginder, Todd Gray, Raul Guerrero, Ann Hamilton, Steven Hull, Robert Irwin/Philipp Scholz Rittermann, Jim Isermann, Isaac Julien, Nina Katchadourian, Alex Katz, Victoria Fu / Byron Kim, Jean Lowe, Kim MacConnel, Heather Gwen Martin, Michael Mercil, Beatriz Milhazes, Ryan McGinness, Roy McMakin, Richard Allen Morris, Catherine Opie, Julian Opie, Matt Rich, Gabriella Sanchez, Lorenzo Hurtado Segovia, Rex Southwick, Fred Tomaselli, Monique van Genderen, William Wegman, Gail Werner, Lizzie Zelter, and Andrea Zittel have been installed throughout La Jolla.
