Artist of the Week: Jessica Steele
Living within Palmer city limits, Jessica began painting last year, when life felt especially heavy. Approaching 55, she decided it was time to try something new and creative. After more than 37 years as a hairdresser, she realized that if she could create art rather than just hairstyling, she could also bring creativity to canvas.
Her exhibit is inspired by Alaska’s vibrant summer season and the endless daylight of the Summer Solstice. Featuring Alaska-themed flowers dancing in the light of the longest day of the year, her paintings celebrate color, movement, and the beauty of nature during one of Alaska’s most magical times.
