📅 Saturday, July 11, 2026
🕒 6 p.m.
📍 Shreve Lodge
In the Midst is a participatory, site-responsive public program led by choreographer Sarah Lass, inviting park visitors and local communities into embodied practices of attention, relation, and imagination. Rooted in improvisational dance and open to participants of all ages and experience levels, the project unfolds over several days of on-site exploration, culminating in a public performance and interactive workshop.
Throughout the residency, Lass engages in daily, open movement explorations within the park, which visitors are welcome to witness. These sessions attend to the specific conditions of the landscape—terrain, weather, sound, and the presence of human and more-than-human life—treating the environment as an active collaborator in the creative process.
On the final day, Lass will present an informal site-specific performance developed through this process, followed by a combined artist talk and participatory workshop. Rather than simply discussing her work, Lass invites participants into a shared, lived experience through guided movement prompts that deepen awareness of body, place, and relation. No prior dance experience is required. In the Midst offers a welcoming space to connect with the land, with others, and with new ways of noticing and moving through the world.
