Artist in Residence: Basketry & Weaving in Nature by Marge McCrae

The program will offer public workshops focused on basketry techniques, combining hands-on learning with educational components. Each session will include an informative talk accompanied by examples to provide context and inspiration. Participants will receive guidance on how and where to safely and legally gather natural materials for their work.
Instruction will be tailored to a range of skill levels, with age-appropriate guidance for participants ages 6 and up, from beginners to more advanced learners. All necessary supplies will be provided.
Featured projects will include woven paper designs incorporating imagery of the park alongside decorative paper, as well as a continuous paper weaving technique that produces a seamless basket form. Participants will also have the opportunity to embellish their creations with natural materials.
