Music Grammy-nominated composer James Díaz is an NAC artist fellow whose works have been premiered by the New York Philharmonic and other major ensembles. His music embodies a spectrum of compositional practices, blending digital techniques and collaborative exploration. His new album, Espacio absoluto presents a program centered on fictional spaces, unstable sonic environments, and perceptual transformation. Featured performers will include NAC artist fellow alumna violinist Pala Garcia and John Popham, cello faculty at the University of Washington School of Music, a founding member of the piano trio Longleash, and co-director of The Loretto Project, a creative residency in central Kentucky. As a performing artist, researcher, and teacher, he draws on classical, historical, and experimental practices to explore and expand string performance and pedagogy.
