Dr. Arthur Caplan is a leading author, expert, advisor, and honoree in the fields of science, medicine, and ethics will explore the inexplicable war being waged on America’s public health and scientific research communities – communities that have been the envy of the world, and that have been so effective and vital for the health of our nation. Caplan will discuss how we are all endangered when ideology drives public policy and science. And of course what citizens can do about it.
The author or editor of 35 books and more than 880 papers in peer reviewed journals, Caplan has virtually unparalleled national experience to speak on all these issues. His books include Vaccination Ethics and Policy, with Jason Schwartz, and, Getting to Good: Research Integrity in Biomedicine, with Barbara Redman.
Currently serving as the Drs. William F. and Virginia Connolly Mitty Professor and founding head of the Division of Medical Ethics at NYU Grossman School of Medicine’s Department of Population Health in New York City, Caplan has been widely honored for his contributions to health care, ethics, and science, serves on numerous medical advisory panels, and has been repeatedly recognized as one of the country’s most influential thinkers on science and medicine.
