Born and raised in Warsaw, Poland, ARTHUR ALEXANDER grabbed his guitar and headed for America where he joined a band called THE POPPEES who took up residence at CBGB's in NYC, heading up the Power Pop Division of the then-just-emerging New Wave/Punk Rock music scene. The Poppees released two critically acclaimed singles on Bomp! Records, but soon after Arthur founded a band called SORROWS. Before they could even get a bass player, a demo tape caught the interest of CBS Records who signed Sorrows, and two albums followed: “Teenage Heartbreak” and “Love Too Late”, plus several singles - all receiving a string of rave write-ups, as well as "pick hit" nominations from Billboard, Cash Box and others music trades. In 2010, Sorrows saw a re-emergence of their music with a Bomp! Records release “Bad Times, Good Times” leading to more tours and playing to enthusiastic audiences throughout the East and West Coasts. The band now, now simply named The Arthur Alexander Band, is currently working on their next album, expected out in time for this exciting debut show here at BLUE PORTLAND MAINE on Thursday, September 19, 2024.

RICK BARTON is an American DIY underground songwriter with a treasure-trove of heartfelt, gut wrenching material. In addition to his songwriting talents he has also started several iconic Boston bands including The Outlets, Dropkick Murphys, Everybody Out & Continental. The Outlets attained success in the greater Boston music scene and signed with Restless/Enigma Records. They are best known for the single "Knock Me Down". With the Dropkick Murphys and the release of their debut EP "Boys on the Docks" along with their first two studio albums, the band embarked on some extensive world touring. Then in 2007, Barton formed the punk rock band, Everybody Out!, and most recently Continental as well as some recent and well acclaimed solo projects. Rick's sound has been described as "Paul Westerberg writing songs for The Rolling Stones." Rick wears his life experiences on his sleeve and combined with his vast musical experience he has shaped a brand new kind of sound! His latest endeavor, with the help of Dave Westner on Drums, Paul Yu on lead guitar and Sam Gehrke on bass, is soulful, stripped down and teeming with relatable lyrics that will bring you a full range of emotions. This will be the Portland Debut of the RICK BARTON BAND! "I always find that Rick Barton has a way of finding moments in life that I knew existed, but only in feeling.
