Artfirmations: Creativity as a Human ‘Do Not Disturb’ Button
About this Event
Life can feel noisy. Constant notifications, endless to-do lists and a busy mind make it hard to slow down. Sophie's Artfirmations workshops offer the chance to press your own human "Do Not Disturb" button.
After discovering hand lettering during one of the most challenging periods of her life, Sophie found that the simple, repetitive act of drawing letters became a powerful way to quiet her mind, ease overwhelm and reconnect with herself. Creating positive words by hand became both a mindful practice and a source of comfort – inspiring what is now known as Artfirmations.
In this relaxed, beginner-friendly workshop, Sophie shares that same experience with others. You'll learn the basics of modern hand lettering and brush lettering while creating your own meaningful piece of artwork using a word, affirmation or mantra that speaks to you. Whether you choose your own words or use one of Sophie's Artfirmations, you'll leave with something that's both beautiful and deeply personal.
No artistic experience or good handwriting is needed. There are no rules, no pressure and no expectation of perfection – just the opportunity to slow down, get creative and enjoy the process.
During the workshop you'll:
- Learn the foundations of modern hand lettering and brush lettering.
- Practise simple strokes, letterforms and techniques.
- Discover how creativity and positive words can support wellbeing.
- Create your own personalised Artfirmation artwork to take home.
More than just a lettering class, this workshop is an invitation to pause, breathe and create without judgement. The mindful rhythm of lettering naturally encourages focus, calm and presence, offering a welcome break from the pace of everyday life.
Your finished Artfirmation becomes more than a piece of artwork. It's a daily reminder. A personal mantra. A little encouragement. A paper hug.
Artfirmations isn't about creating perfect art. It's about making words look the way they feel and discovering a creative practice you can return to whenever life gets loud.
