Step away from Barcelona’s busy streets and discover a small, intimate art space hidden among the narrow old streets of the city.
ArtBeats.Space invites you to a free-entry Collective Art Expo featuring three international artists who live and create in Barcelona: Alona Belinska, James Ormiston, and Lara Hochreiter.
Coming from Latvia, New Zealand and Austria, the three artists bring different backgrounds, techniques and ways of looking at the world - connected by Barcelona, the city where they now live and create.
All three work from studios in Barcelona, making this exhibition a small reflection of the international creative community that has made the city its home.

Meet the Artists
Alona Belinska - Artist & Founder of ArtBeats.Space
Alona is both one of the exhibiting artists and the person behind ArtBeats.Space.
Her story with the space goes beyond having a traditional gallery. ArtBeats.Space grew from a community of artists who, for many years, came together to organize pop-up exhibitions and creative events in different locations around Barcelona.
What began as a moving, evolving community eventually found a permanent home.
Today, ArtBeats.Space is an independent gallery and art store where visitors can discover original works while meeting the people who create them.
During the exhibition, Alona will personally welcome visitors and host short, informal 15-minute tours, talking about store and artworks, sharing the story of the gallery and the unusual historic space it now calls home.
James Ormiston - Artist
Raised on a farm in rural New Zealand and now painting in Barcelona, James has long been interested in the way our past shapes how we see the world.
His work explores memory and what happens to it over time.
He paints portraits and figures as we might remember them: certain details remain vivid and remarkably clear, while others begin to fade, disappear or feel unfinished.
This idea is reflected in the physical process of his paintings. James may scrape paint back, leave areas intentionally incomplete or allow the underlying drawing to remain visible. Smeared paint and exposed marks interrupt moments of realism, reminding us that what we are looking at is something constructed.
In this way, the materials become part of the story.
Just like memory itself, the image is built, altered, revisited and never entirely fixed.
Lara Hochreiter - Artist
Originally from Innsbruck, Austria, Lara Hochreiter is a Barcelona-based figurative artist whose work combines a strong foundation in traditional painting with a more dreamlike and emotional visual language.
After studying graphic design, Lara trained in traditional painting at the Barcelona Academy of Art, completing her diploma in 2021. Her practice is rooted in realism and classical technique, with particular attention to the human figure, light, skin, gesture and expression.
But realism is only the starting point.
Through oil painting, mixed media and muralism, Lara explores themes including nature, identity, our origins, introspection, belonging and the relationship between dreams and reality. Her work often looks at the tension between contemporary life and something more instinctive - our connection with nature, mythology and the question of where we belong.
There is precision in her work, but also movement, colour and a sense of magic.
Lara's work has been exhibited internationally, and in 2025 she received 1st Prize in the Beautiful Bizarre Art Prize Catherine K. Gyllerstrom Emerging Artist Award.
A Gallery With a Little History of Its Own
The artwork isn't the only reason to look closely at the walls.
ArtBeats.Space is a cozy independent gallery and art store tucked away on a small old street in Barcelona's historic centre.
The space carries traces of the city's past including a gallery wall dating back to the 15th century.
Surrounded by narrow streets, old stone and the medieval atmosphere of Barcelona's Old Town, the gallery creates an intimate setting where contemporary artwork meets centuries of history.
It isn't a white-cube gallery experience. It's small, personal and close to the art.
You can take your time, talk to the people behind the space, ask questions about the paintings and discover the stories behind them.
Before ArtBeats.Space had four walls and an address, it was a community.
For years, artists connected through the project and organized pop-up exhibitions and creative events in different spaces around Barcelona.
Different venues, different artists, different audiences but always the same idea: creating opportunities for artists to show their work and for people to experience art in a more personal and approachable way.
After years of moving around the city, that community finally found a permanent home in Barcelona's Old Town.
This collective exhibition continues that original spirit.
Come to discover three artists and three very different perspectives. Stay to talk about art, meet people from Barcelona's creative community, explore a historic little corner of the city, or simply spend some time surrounded by paintings and conversation.
No formal gallery knowledge required. No dress code.
Just walk in, look around, ask questions and enjoy the art.
