About this Event
Calling all young creatives!
Barkingside Art Club is now offering Saturday Art Support Sessions for home-educated students and young people aged 13 and above who are working towards GCSEs, A-Levels, portfolios, or Arts Award qualifications.
Students will get a opportunity to explore your creativity, develop your skills, and receive one-to-one guidance on your projects in a relaxed and supportive environment at Fullwell Cross Library.
We tailor the session to the individual needs of the student. Whether you’re refining a GCSE project, preparing a portfolio, or experimenting across different materials and techniques. You’ll receive hands-on tuition, creative feedback, and structured support to help you grow as an artist.
Every young artist deserves the right balance of encouragement, structure, and inspiration. Our approach blends practical art-making with creative discussion, helping students learn both technical and reflective skills that extend beyond the classroom.
Why Join:
Art can be a powerful tool for confidence, communication, and self-expression. These sessions give young people the space, guidance, and encouragement to find their artistic voice, feel proud of what they create, and build the confidence to pursue future creative opportunities.
Opportunity Areas:
- Build and strengthen your GCSE, A-Level or portfolio projects
- Explore different art mediums, from drawing and painting to mixed-media design
- Gain insight into art-based qualifications and creative career pathways
- Experience inclusive teaching methods that value each student’s voice and style
Skills Gained:
- Creative thinking and problem-solving
- Technical skills in drawing, painting, and composition
- Visual analysis and reflection
- Confidence in presenting and discussing artwork
- Time management and project planning for coursework or portfolios
What to Expect Each Week:
Each session includes a creative warm-up, guided project time, and individual feedback. Students work at their own pace with support from our facilitators, developing new ideas and strengthening their visual and conceptual skills week by week.
Students can attend individual sessions or join regularly to continue developing their project over time.
Led By:
Our sessions are led by Barkingside Art Club’s Creative Ambassadors and experienced art tutors, who specialise in inclusive and youth-led art education.
All staff and facilitators are DBS checked, and sessions are supervised at all times to ensure a safe and supportive environment.
Our Environment:
All sessions take place in an inclusive, sensory-friendly setting designed to support every student’s creative confidence. Small group sizes ensure personalised attention, and all art materials are provided.
