ART THROUGH THE AGES
When we look at art through the ages, we are really looking at people.
People have always created. From the drawings on cave walls to what we are creating today, somebody had an idea and found a way to express it.
And that is what artists do.
We look at the world around us. We look at what came before us. We take something from it, whether we realize it or not, and then we create from our own experiences.
I don't believe art is supposed to stay the same. Art changes because people change. The world changes. Our experiences change.
When we look at artists from different periods, we can see how one idea can lead to another. An artist may see something another artist created and take that thought in a completely different direction.
That's what makes art interesting to me.
Art Through the Ages is not about copying what artists did before us. It is about understanding what they did and then asking ourselves, what do I see? What does it mean to me? And what can I do with it?
Because we are part of art history too.
What we create today may influence somebody tomorrow. We may never see how far that influence goes.
That is the Butterfly Effect of art.
One artist. One idea. One creation can become the beginning of something else.
