Art Spark

This fall, embrace your creativity at the museum’s Carol and Gerry Parker Art Studio with an afternoon of art making inspired by works on view in the museum. Drop in when the studio is open between 1 and 4 pm and stay for as long or as little as you'd like. Each month, a different activity explores ideas, materials and processes connected to current exhibitions.

August: Clay Bodies

Create air-dry clay sculptures inspired by vessels with human qualities in Woody De Othello: coming forth by day.

September: Fabric Mosaic

Try out kinusaiga, a no-sew form of quilting, to create geometric patterns inspired by Woody De Othello’s ceramic mosaic works.

October: Mixed Media Zines

Make a zine using a combination of techniques including simple block printing and found poetry. Find more ways artists experiment with inexpensive, accessible materials in Out of Line: Art at the Edge.

November: Fashion Collage

Explore haute couture design in The Gift of Fashion exhibition, then design a unique fabric collage (This activity continues through December 5).
