In this show Sujata Tibrewala takes viewers on a journey from pre-historic times to modern, from Ancient India to contemporary west to look at women of substance who were instrumental in Human Evolution, and to move humanity forward from pre-historic women, goddesses to likes of Marie Curie, Mae Jamison, Meera Bai Chanu, Lata Mangeshkar and more.

I am a self-taught, award-winning eco feminist artist from Lalit kala Academy India. My upcoming solo in March 2024 was approved by the Milpitas Arts Commission for the City of Milpitas art gallery in the US. My thoughts on art have been featured on the website of the National Museum of American History.
I am an active docent and active continuing docent education chair at San Jose Museum of Art. I am also the founder of president of Indian American Artists’ Association (IAAA) – a non-profit helping Indian-origin artists in the US find a platform to show their art.
I have conducted solos around the globe including University of Illinois, Chicago, Lalit Kala Academy, New Delhi, and Jawahar Kala Kendra, Jaipur.
I was also a part of the Art Mosaic Mission San Jose Street Fair 2023; a group show "Breaking the Frame" at ARTogether Center, Oakland, CA; subZERO festival in San Jose in 2023 & Tahoe Art League, Parallax, Chelsea, London; Raw San Jose, CA; Urban Art Retreat Fundraiser, Chicago, IL amongst many others.
Artist Statement
Art is like the air I breathe, since it is the only thing that has stayed with me since I was a little girl , painting sitting in my home garden, blocking out the numerous voices that told me, how if I was a born a boy everyone’s life would be so much better. It was something that pulled me out of Fibromyalgia, a disease that had forced me out of my job, and unable to take care of my daughter. When nothing else cheered me up, my loved ones, friends, family, expressing my pain, my sadness and my anger helped me come out of the hole of depression I had gotten into. To my surprise it not only made me stronger, it also made me mentally more creative and my career as a technologist, soared after I took up my day job again after learning how to manage fibromyalgia. It was actually art that brought me back to life, and also gave my brain the ability to come up with creative solutions to my life’s and my career’s problems, which also led me to securing a Green card in the US under EB1-“Einstein category “.
