ART RE-CENTERED: A Community Knowledge Share & Solstice Gathering

Celebrate connection and the summer solstice with an evening of art, insight, and community.

As the long light of summer solstice surrounds us, join us for a free, community-focused evening that honors art, belonging, and shared knowledge. Set within the stunning Bill Reid Gallery of Northwest Coast Art, ART RE-CENTERED invites you to connect with local Kickstart artists, culture bearers, and neighbours over refreshments and live performance.
What to Expect:

  • Delicious Community Spread & Refreshments
    Enjoy complimentary beverages and finger foods throughout the evening in a beautiful museum setting.
  • Knowledge Sharing
    Explore key findings from Kickstart’s MARP research project, displayed throughout the gallery. Learn what community consultations and research revealed about art, equity, and creative futures.
  • Live Performance
    Experience a special live performance by a local artist. Performer announcement coming soon. Follow our social media and newsletter for updates**
  • Connection & Creativity
    Meet fellow arts lovers, community members, and creators in a welcoming, inspiring space. Whether you come to learn, to listen, or to celebrate the solstice, you’ll leave feeling re-centered.

2-4 ASL Interpreters will be onsite throughout the event.


Transit (Buses) that arrive nearby:

The 02, 05, 44 and R5 on Burrard Street, approximately 1 block away from the Gallery entrance;

Buses 209, 210, 211, 214, 240, 241, 246, 247, 250, 253, 254, 257 on Georgia Street;

04, 07, 10, 14, 16, 050 on Dunsmuir, and 19, 22 on Pender St, approximately 2 blocks away.


Parking

Paid street parking available on Hornby St

The Gallery has underground paid parking available for all visitors, open 7 days a week from 6 am to 7 pm.

Entrance and exit are located on Hornby Street. On parkade level P1, there are 3 accessible stalls, and an elevator that gets you into the tower across the courtyard from the Gallery. There is no access to the Gallery’s elevator from the parkade.


Drop Off

Shuttles can drop off passengers at the Loading Zone located on West Georgia Street between Hornby and Burrard Street (for flat access), or on Burrard Street (for stairs access).


Wheelchair Access

The Gallery has a wheelchair accessible flat and level path located between Christ Church Cathedral and Cathedral Place on Georgia Street. This takes you through the courtyard and to the Gallery entrance. A grey plaque with directional signage for this route is at street level on Hornby Street. Watch a video of the route here.


Masks

Masks will be available at the event along with our entire access library. Masking is encouraged.
