LINOCUT PAPALOTE WORKSHOP WITH EMILIO CEJA CASTILLO AND RACHEL MITCHELL Part 2!
Learn how to construct your own custom block-printed papalote- or kite- inspired by the Día de los Muertos tradition of kite-flying in Oaxaca and the legacy of Francisco Toledo’s use of paplotes in his fine art practice and activist work.
In this second workshop, participants will print hand-carved linoleum blocks onto their own handmade paplotes before taking advantage of Corpus Christi’s ideal flying environment in a kite race.
Open to all ages 13-17. If you missed the first workshop, do not be discouraged from attending. All participants will be able to print and create their own Papalote!
Drop off between 10:30 am and 11 am at the side door at 415d Starr St. Art Lab is FREE and open to all artists ages 13-17. All materials provided. Please RSVP for each lesson each month as space is limited.
