Join a Park Ranger on a journey to the historically significant and immensely scenic Virginius Island, where you'll explore the park’s art history and create your own art of the landscape. This free event invites you to engage with the community and enjoy the first breath of spring alongside the bursting blooms of the bluebells of Virginius Island! Sit alongside the majestic Shenandoah river and the ruins of the mills and buildings stationed along its banks, listen to the birds sing, and replicate the vivid flowers at their peak bloom blanketing the forest floor of this historic island.
Meet at the Green, across from the bookshop, at 10:00 AM for a short walk to the beautiful island, where you'll create art “En Plein Air.” Please bring your own portable art supplies, including seating arrangements and easels if needed. Sketchbooks and pastels are available on a first come first serve basis.
The program will conclude at 1:00 PM, but you're welcome to stay longer. All skill levels are encouraged to participate!
Reservations are recommended.
