Learn how to paint your own dunes-inspired painting with local artist from the Art Barn.
The "Art in the Park" series of events is hosted by the Indiana Dunes National Park in partnership with the Art Barn School of Art in Valparaiso, IN. Classes are open to all skill levels, and accessible to those with physical limitations.
Each session features a different theme related to the National Park and its surroundings. Art Barn instructor Dori Huber will guide students through the art process on a project inspired by the park. By coming together, our organizations are collectively able to accomplish a common goal of reaching more individuals through cultural programming that links art and nature together at the park's Paul H. Douglas Center for Environmental Education. Kids ages 6 and up are allowed with parent or guardian. Kids must have own ticket. Reservations are required. There is a $25 fee for the program.
All programs begin at 1:00 pm and end at 3:00 pm.
August 8 "Beach Sunset" Come paint a serene beach scene depicting one of the Dunes' spectacular sunsets.
Sept 12 "Race Runner" Did you know that the Indiana Dunes has a native lizard? The lightning-fast, Six-lined Racerunner can be spotted at Indiana Dunes National Park if you're observant and quick enough to notice them. We'll create a fun painting with one of these little reptiles in the landscape.
