It stars Cher & Nicolas Cage as Brooklynites Loretta Castorini & Ronny Cammareri. Loretta’s fiance is Johnny Cammareri (Danny Aiello), Ronny’s estranged brother. When Johnny leaves for Sicily to take care of his sickly mother, Loretta goes to see Ronny at his bakery to try to mend the relationship. Loretta’s parents are played wonderfully by Olympia Dukakis & Vincent Gardenia. Moonstruck was nominated for six Oscars in 1988 at the 60th Academy Awards: Best Picture, Director, Supporting Actor (Gardenia); winning for John Patrick Shanley’s Original Screenplay, Actress, and Supporting Actress (Dukakis). A timeless, must-see classic. Paul Marino will introduce the film, raise questions to ponder, and host a post-viewing discussion.
